Remember the line: "Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water ..." Well, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian might as well have said it today.

But just when you thought it was safe to go back over the border ... along come more COVID cases.
With all the hurt of a disappointed school principal lecturing pupils, Ms Berejiklian said the community needs to be shocked out of complacency after five more locally acquired cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Friday morning.
The back and forth between Queensland and NSW continued but this time it was NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard who criticised Queensland's border closure saying without a change in the rules, the issue "could go on for years".
Eep!
Another COVID-driven factor that has more longevity than anyone would have credited is the daily update in Victoria from Premier Daniel Andrews.
Mr Andrews might be preparing to raise his bat for 100 press conferences tomorrow but today he was getting walloped in the state's hotel quarantine inquiry.
Victoria's top bureaucrats, a former MP and government departments made their final arguments and most didn't miss.
Dumped health minister Jenny Mikakos told the inquiry to treat the Premier's evidence about private security "with caution"; her department insisted there is no conclusive evidence to link an outbreak at the Rydges quarantine hotel to the state's catastrophic second coronavirus wave; Victoria Police says it was never properly consulted about the ill-fated decision to hire private security and the Jobs Department threw the Health Department under a bus for the lack of infection control.
If you're keen to read about the final submissions, this is quite comprehensive.
The inquiry, led by retired judge Jennifer Coate, is to hand down its final report on November 6.
Meanwhile after "enjoying" a relaxation of rules for a brief time, many parts of northern England, Wales and Scotland have implemented new tough restrictions on social interaction to try to curb the growing spread of the disease.
With that in mind - and Ms Berejiklian's disappointed look - have a safe weekend.
