The Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra (MCCI) is calling for nominations for the region's multicultural awards as the organisation celebrates its 45th anniversary in March.

The Illawarra Multicultural Awards 2020 are open to individuals, groups and organisations who work in the multicultural space in the Illawarra and have made an outstanding contribution to promote inclusion and cultural diversity over the past year.

"The awards are an opportunity to acknowledge our culturally diverse region and recognise the individuals, groups and organisations who have contributed to the Illawarra's success," MCCI CEO Chris Lacey said.

"The awards will be presented at the Illawarra Harmony Dinner to be held on 20 March at the City Beach Function Centre. The event promises to be a fantastic celebration of multicultural Illawarra."

There are five categories are: Community Innovation Award, Excellence in Community Engagement Award, Excellence in Cultural and Community Events Award, Young Leader | Emerging Talent Award and Workplace Inclusion Award.

Nominations close at 5pm on February 21.

Contact MCCI on 4229 7566 or email admin@mcci.org.au for more details.
