Promoter Troy Bayliss said the Recover8 Australian Speed & Style Championship will be held at WIN Stadium on November 9 and coincide with Round 3 of the national supercross championships.
He described it as "a thrilling elimination style winner takes all format".
Mr Bayliss said Australian and international riders are being invited to compete. With the being crowned by Motorcycling Australia as Official Australian Speed & Style Champion.
Speed and Style is a unique sport that originated at the American X-Games and combines the technical racing skills of Supercross with Freestyle Motocross.
Mr Bayliss said it will give Wollongong fans "an unbeatable mix of speed and wow".
Riders will race head-to-head over jumps and other obstacles before assending a steel ramp and a 23 metre gap before the finish line.
The will perform backflips and other tricks.
They are judged on a combination of the time they take to complete the course and the difficulty of tricks they perform.
News of the Recover8 Australian Speed & Style Championship coming to Wollongong follows confirmation from America's Justin Brayton that he will compete at the Wollongong Supercross and entire Australian Supercross Championship.
In doing so he will be attempting to defend his current and three-in a row Australian Supercross title.
International stunt rider Robbie Maddison will also be coming to WIN Stadium to perform land, sea and air stunts.
The Australian Motorcycle Festival is also being held on the same weekend in November.
