The Shellharbour Club continued its dominance in Wollongong’s Amazing Race on Friday by finishing first in a field of 25 teams
The Shellharbour team has competed for five years and have now won three times. The secret to their success is going to the most distant check-point first.
“We do it because it is good fun raising money for a really good cause,” HR officer Lauren Tait said.
“It is good team building as well,” event coordinator Ashleigh Scott said.
This year event founders Emily Squires and Chantelle Esteves, of the Novotel Wollongong Northbeach, enlisted the help of TAFE NSW Wollongong travel, hospitality and event students to help organise the team challenge and more than $10,000 has been raised for Convoy’s Illawarra Community Foundation.
Mrs Esteves said it has been another really successful year on a day when there were many other events in Wollongong as well.
“We have had really good support”.
