The St George Illawarra Dragons NRL Women’s campaign has started with disappointment after the side went down 30-4 to the Broncos.

The Brisbane side blew St George Illawarra off the Suncorp Stadium turf from the opening whistle, with fullback Chelsea Baker crossing for the opening try just two minutes into the game.

Captain Sam Bremner scored the Dragons first try in the inaugural competition five minutes later, but there was very little to celebrate for the visitors from that point on, with the Broncos scoring four unanswered tries to claim a comprehensive victory.

Despite the disappointing result, Bremner was proud of her team’s effort and is looking forward to building on the performance in the next two weeks.

“We’ll take a lot of confidence from the game,” Bremner said
