But it was the youngsters who attended CBCA Illawarra- South Coast Sub-branch’s Literary Lunch who seemed to get the biggest thrill.
Students from from 14 schools across the Illawarra and South Coast listened intently to the 14 talented authors and illustrators who passed on their knowledge and encouraged students’ love of writing, reading and illustrating.
Wollongong -based award-winning illustrator Dale Newman had the “honour” of being the guest speaker at the August 8 luncheon. “Events like this are great because young people get to meet local and interstate authors and illustrators,” she said.
Newman has illustrated six children books, mostly for the educational market.
Her most successful is KidGlovz - a graphic novel written by Julie Hunt and published by Allen & Unwin, which won the 2016 Griffith University Children's Book Award at the Queensland Literary Awards.
