Last Friday saw the running of the Combined High Schools South Coast Region athletics carnival at the AIS stadium in Canberra.

The South Coast CHS Region consists of 38 very competitive high schools and is one of the strongest sporting regions in the state.
There were a lot of excellent results, personal bests and broken records.
Some were not able to compete due to injury or sickness. Hopefully there will be plenty of other opportunities down the track for them.
Not all results are in, but to date we have:
Eleanor Tozer G14. High Jump 1st 1.57m. Long Jump 1st 4.90m. 100m 4th 12.8sec. 200m 3rd 26.73sec. Triple Jump 3rd, 9.80. Shot put 13th 7.80.
Older sister Rosie Tozer, G16. In high jump came first with 1.72m breaking Sophia Begg’s 2004 record by 2cm, 100m hurdles, 2nd 18.90sec. Long jump 1st 4.79m. Triple jump 1st 10.30m. 200m 3rd 27.6sec. 100m 6th 13.57sec. Discus 2nd 24.94. 100m hurdles 2nd 18.90 sec.
Jackie Lenartowicz G14. Shot put 1st 10.36m. Discus 1st 28.07m.
Hannah Reid G15 discus 6th 18.00 metres.
Tyrell Taione B13. Kept himself busy by playing two league games at Cootamundra the day beforehand, so unfortunately, was a little flat in the high jump jumping 1.35m. However he bounced back within a short period by being part of a victorious boys 13 relay team.
Amy Joy G14. 1st 100m 12.80sec, 1st 200m 26.53sec.
Cailee Melfie G12. LJ 2nd 4.49m High Jump 1st 1.36m, 200m 4th 29.67sec, 100m 4th 14.17sec.
Gabriel Bickel B16. 1st 100m in 10.89 a personal best and the first time he has run under 11 flat. 1st in the 200m, 22.33. 2nd in the 400m, 52.44.
Olivia Sivills G14. 1st 800m 2.29.59. 1st 1500m 5.13.60. 1st 3000m 11.35.90.
Patrice Sivills B14. 1st 800m, 2.14.78. 2nd Javelin 29.39m. 3rd 1500m 4.57.82.
One of the highlights of the meet must have been the phenomenal performances of Chelsea Ezeoke. This modest young athlete put in some performance efforts that will stay on the record books for a long time.
In Shot Put, she came 1st, 11.57m, breaking a 31-year-old record. Discus - 1st 28.64m. 100m 1st 12.64sec breaking a nine-year-old record. Long Jump 1st 4.75m. 200m 1st 25.69 breaking a 15-year-old record and 400m 1st 59.53 sec, competing as a 12-year-old in a 14-year-old event.
In the recent Northern Illawarra District Carnival last week young Genevieve Tozer, part of the talented Tozer clan, came 1st in the LJ - 3.63m, SP - 6.20m, Discus - 18.80m and HJ - 1.31m and to top it off she was awarded Junior Girls Overall Champion.
