This event is a great local event incorporating the following events. Competitors come from far and wide to compete in either two, five or 10-kilometre events.
The course starts at Sandon Point. Most serious cross country runners would have skipped the popular Bulli Park fun runs to rest up for this event.
The 5km run is dedicated to Mark Scott, the 2011 Bulli Burn winner who was seriously injured in a cycling accident in June 2011.
Mark was a talented junior distance runner and in 1997 was awarded the U15 Distance Excellence Award at Wollongong Southern Flame’s Annual Presentation Awards. Funds raised assist in the ongoing care and treatment for Mark.
Athletics Wollongong runners Ron Perry came second in the M70 5km 31min 34sec, Ros Perry was first F60-69 5km in 29min 34sec and Saxby Morely third in the 10km race, M20-29 age with a time of 38 minute 18 seconds.
Congratulations to Chelsey-Rose Jackson on being selected to attend the under 15 national athletics camp, held this year at the National Institute of Sport on the October long weekend.
This is an awesome achievement for many years of hard work. Chelsey-Rose’s parents, and her long-time Athletics Wollongong coach, Chris Twigg are exceptionally proud of this honour.
