The film screening includes a Q&A panel with Illawarra birth providers and workers, and will run as a fundraiser for Better Births Illawarra (a group working to improve maternity choices at Wollongong Hospital) and the Doula Heart Network.
Bulli-based kinesiologist Anna Carson is behind the screening.
“When I fell pregnant, after recently emigrating to Australia from the UK in 2012, I found it incredibly difficult to find the support and the practitioners that I needed during my pregnancy and birth,” she said.
“It has been a dream of mine since then to build this community and directory.”
The movie is full of birth stories and vital information from the midwives, doctors and health professionals who support mothers.
It includes interviews with leading international birth experts including Sheila Kitzinger, Dr Michel Odent, Ina May Gaskin, Dr Andrew Bisits, and Professor Hannah Dahlen.
Tickets are $15 via Eventbrite, Wollongong Yoga Centre – 18 Kenny Street in Wollongong.
