The first phase of rain and storm activity set to last all week hit Wollongong on Saturday afternoon with lightning strikes causing power outages to homes in Keiraville, Mount Pleasant and Balgownie.

A gale warning has also been issued for the Illawarra coast and gusty southerlies are expected on Saturday night when temperatures are set to plummet ahead of a cold and wet Sunday with a top of 16 degrees.
Rain is forecast all week with top temperatures remaining below 20 degrees until Friday.
