This Saturday, January 11, Illawarra Blue Stars will be hosting the Illawarra Track Challenge at Beaton Park from 4pm to 8pm. Online registrations close at 10am Wednesday January 8.

The NSW Championship events will be the Open Men's 60m Championships sponsored by the Supporters Club, the Open Women's 60m Championships sponsored by Kings Sports Store, the Mens NSW 1 mile Championships sponsored by Bing Lee in Shellharbour and the Women's Jessica Hull 1 mile Championships sponsored by Simon Hull Tiling.
There will also be a number of classic events. For track there will be the 100m, 400m, Invitational 400m Hurdles* (via request only) and the 3000m.
In Field events there will be, Long Jump, Shot Put, Hammer Throw.
Para events are the 60m (Non-Championship event), 100m, 400m and Long Jump.
For those registered with ANSW, the 60m and 1 Mile Championships will cost $20, all other events, $10. Non-ANSW Members can register on the day at Athlete Check in for $30
The Lake Illawarra Little Athletic Centre (LILAC) will be hosting the 2020 Lake Illawarra Athletics Summer Carnival. This is the final leg of the Mid South Coast Grand Prix and will take place on Sunday January 12 2020 starting at 9.00am.
Late entries will be taken from 8.00am on the day. This event is quite popular among Illawarra, south coast and southern Sydney athletes. The track is located at the Myimbarr Community Park, Wattle Street, Flinders. Further details are available on www.lilac.net.au.
Last month on December 14 a small team of AW athletes contested the NSW Club Championships held at SOPAC. On collating all the individual after having contested all the events held, the AW team came in 10th.
Individual results were
Isaac O'Brien Discus 10th - 19.79m, shot put 8th - 8.09m
Patrice Sivills 15th - 800m 2:05.45
James McPaul 20th - 800m 2:11.78
Mitchell O'Neill 6th - High Jump 1.85m, 15th - 100m 11.38sec, 8th Long Jump - 4.36m, 19th 200m - 23.34sec
Gabriel Bickel 13th - 100m 11.31sec, 11th 200m - 22.51sec
Our 2X2X400m relay team of James McPaul and Patrice Sivills came 7th in 3:59.25secs event
Olivia Sivills finished ninth in the 3000m Open Womens event in 11:55.96sec.
Finally an unusual event called the Swedish Relay, in which different members of the team run different distance saw our team of Patrice Sivills (100m), Isaac O'Brien (300m), Gabriel Bickel (200m), James McPaul (400m) come 8th in - 2:03.32sec. Well done team for surviving such an exhausting day.
