Delta Amidzovski deserves special mention. Hampered by hamstring issues, she bravely contested all events vowing that it was better to come last than to accept the easy defeat of not competing. Her tremendous courage still enabled her to achieve some national placings and underlines the depth of her courage. A massive well done Delta.
Delta earned gold in the U14 girls high jump, leaping to 1.71 metres and g in the 4x100m. A fellow team-mate was Chelsea Ezeoke, now competing with the IBS club, and the time was an ultra quick 48.46 sec.
Delta also won silver in the 80m hurdles in 12.46sec. She also competed as a 13-year-old in the higher age division, U16 200m hurdles, winning the 2nd of three timed finals which placed her 6th position overall in 29.30sec, and finally finished 7th in the U14 girls long jump with a jump of 5.03m.
Tayissa Buchanan won a well deserved gold in the U14 girls 800m in 2.12.98 in what had to be one of the most dogged and tactical performances of the meet
Rosie Tozer won a silver medal in the U18 girls high jump with a massive leap of 1.77m. The winner jumped 1.80m.
Thomas Noakes was 7th in the U18 boys pole vault - 3.70m, and 11th in the U18 boys hammer throw - 37.06m.
Zoe Daniels was 4th in the U16 girls discus - 40.43m. Oh so close. Zoe was actually second going into the last round but just missed a placing. First and second place girls are a year older, so prospects are looking good for Zoe in this age division next year
Karlee Symonds was just out of the places with a 4th in the U18 para girls 100m in 14.85sec.
A massive well done athletes. You are fantastic ambassadors of the Illawarra, your schools, parents and NSW as a whole.
Congrats to Delta Amidzovski, Miki Heywood, Liam Halloran and Lara (Bounce) Check on their huge trophy hauls at their local annual school presentations. On top of that, recently Lara went to the South Coast Sporting Awards Luncheon and was presented with a Regional Sporting Blue as well as the major award winner of the Brian Downes Trophy for Most Outstanding Achievement in Athletics.
To all the awards winners well done. These rewards are for the huge amount of work you put into your training and competition, and the sacrifice of social time with family and friends to achieve your personal goals. Well done

The Treloar number 6 round was held at SOPAC on November 30th. Well done to Susie Seitaridis with 59.17 in the Open Women's 400m placing 14th out of 43. Earlier that morning she ran a 63.86 in the 400m hurdles placing second. Rosie Tozer, once again flew over the bar in the Open Women's High Jump, coming first with a 1.75m. In the Open Womens discus Jamaya Wayne threw 35.28m to position 13th and Emily Yorkston was 10th with 35.71m. The highlight for these ladies must have been the fact that Olympian Dani Stevens was competing and threw an enormous 65.93 metres, to obviously finish first, about 17m further than second place. Awesome. Well done team.
