The not-for- profit orchestra orchestra is providing Wollongong music lovers with a rare experience called "A Night of Symphonic Sounds with Anna Da Silva Chen and Steel City Strings".
Following Saturday night's performance at St Francis Xavier Cathedral Ms da Silva Chen and Steel City Strings will perform another show on Sunday at the Nowra School of Arts.
During the last four years the orchestra has been showcasing great classical works for string orchestra and featuring local soloists, choirs and composers.
Ms da Silva Chen has appeared as a soloist with many of Australia's major orchestras.
She also performs extensively with the Australia Piano Quartet.
During Sarurday night's performance Ms da Silva Chen will play Beethoven's violin concerto.
A Steel City Strings spokesperson said in the Southern Highlands on the weekend she was given a standing ovation and the audience stayed standing until she performed an impromptu encore.
"Anna is known to audiences in the region where she has been playing from a young age - it is thrilling to see her now as a recognised soloist at a national and international level," Lyndall Fowler said.
"She is an amazing young violinist who has won prizes in Europe and studied in Germany. She is a local girl who is home on leave and this is a chance for her to perform here with us".
