This event attended by representatives from Quirky Kid, University of Wollongong, and NSW Government's Boosting Business Innovation Programs provided the expanding small business's perspective on collaborating with a university as an effective innovation pathway.
Quirky Kid shared information on how it leveraged its innovation spend through various programs such as tech vouchers, internships and UOW's incubator iAccelerate to maximise impact.
The Best of Friends Program was developed in response to increasing demand from schools to address the social and emotional learning (SEL) challenges children experience, and to offer them the academic and social benefits SEL provides.
The research conducted by Quirky Kid and UOW added to the growing evidence of the efficacy of the program which Quirky Kid was able to use to scale its product so its expertise could benefit children in schools across Australia and around the world.
There were several presentations followed by a Q&A during the morning at the MLC Centre in Martin Place. Dr Kimberley O'Brien from Quirky Kid spoke about innovation in social emotional learning andUOW's Dr Noelene Watherby-Fell talked about working with industry in social emotional learning.
And Leo Rocker from Quirky Kid shared information on leveraging the enterprise's innovation spend.
