Founder Steve Loe, of Precedent Productions, recently called people in communities in the Illawarra and South Coast to nominate their favourite businesses and the awards will be presented on September 11 at The Grange Golf Club..
Mr Loe started the concept 30 years ago and holds local business awards in communities around Australia each year.
The annual Illawarra and South Coast started 14 years ago to give people in the region the chance to encourage and show their appreciation for outstanding providers of goods and services.
Mr Loe said business owners, managers and staff work hard and often go above and beyond to help their clients and customers.
And the annual awards event are a chance for them to give back and say thank you.
"As members of the community, we reap the benefits of their efforts, which can make our own lives happier and easier in many ways," Mr Loe said.
"Sometimes it's as simple as a friendly smile and sympathetic ear from the staff in a shop that lifts your spirits when you're having a bad day.
"Or it may be a supplier who works tirelessly to ensure an urgent stock delivery reaches you on time.
"Nominating someone for their outstanding service or products is a great way to thank these people, who are the backbone of our community."

Mr Loe said businesses could also self-nominate to show staff how much their efforts are valued. He said nominations can be made by filling in an in-store coupon or going online.
Last year 8850 nominations were received and more than 700 people attended Dapto Leagues Club for the presentation of 29 awards. Curran Plumbing and Pipe Relining was named Illawarra and South Coast Business of the Year and Amanda Barr of Dance Sensations was Business Person of the Year.
The Illawarra and South Coast Business Awards are supported by Port Authority NSW, Dapto Leagues Club and The Grange, Service NSW, Warilla Grove Shopping Centre and Dapto Mall.
