Alarmed at statistics he heard at the launch of #talk2mebro the Wollongong gym owner decided he wanted to do something to help raise awareness and funds. #talk2merbo was founded by Kristy Hajjar after she lost her husband to suicide.
Mr Knust wanted to do something when he heard the stats on mental health and the fact that young males in his age group are the highest risk category for suicide. "The suicide rate is greater than our road toll and is the number one killer in young males. We actually lost a member to suicide."
The gym has done a couple of events to support #talk2mebro. Now 50 people are paying the $30 registration for the June 22 event when they'll spend 20 minutes doing squats, 20 doing bench presses and 20 doing dead lifts.
Lifters from Sydney and professional bikini and figure athletes are also coming to Wollongong for the event which comes just one week after Men's Health Week.
