The Dockers have started the AFL season impressively by winning three of their opening five games, including Saturday's win over GWS in Canberra.

While Fremantle head into the Len Hall Tribute Match against the Western Bulldogs with momentum, Lyon wanted another winning effort.

"It's really important that you celebrate a milestone like this but the club's always bigger than the individual, no matter how big the milestone," Lyon said.

"It's about doing it the right way and what the player is comfortable with, everyone's different but we'll tailor the celebration to David in the right way.

"What we need our players to do is show their respect for David through their actions against the Bulldogs. Talk's cheap, we can celebrate it with words but we need to celebrate it with deeds."

Lyon expected close to full player availability against the Dogs, apart from the already-sidelined Hayden Ballantyne, Stephen Hill, Aaron Sandilands and Harley Bennell, and the suspended Taylin Duman.

But he expected forward Cam McCarthy to return, having shaken off an illness that saw him miss the trip to Canberra.

"It's disappointing to lose Taylin, he learns a lesson but we'll get to the team to pick at the right time," Lyon said.

Lyon also expected midfielder Connor Blakely to be available for the first time this season, but it was more likely he'd front in the WAFL for Peel Thunder.
