The assessment focused on financial reporting, governance and internal controls, information technology, asset management, financial performance and sustainability. The results were even more impressive as Shellharbour was the only regional council. The others were Mosman Municipal Council, Randwick City Council, Strathfield Municipal Council and Willoughby City Council.

Interestingly, all of these councils had been earmarked to merge with surrounding councils. This wonderful result proves that the fight against merging with Wollongong City Council was worth it. This is an extraordinarily good result for the community and reaffirms the integrity of Council’s strategies and long-term financial planning.

With our annual Good Neighbour Awards coming up, now is the time to nominate someone who deserves recognition for their kindness. Shellharbour City Council’s Good Neighbour Awards are a celebration of community and aim to build connections between residents within neighbourhoods.

Join us for a morning of fun with our local road safety experts and win some great prizes. This is an excellent opportunity for learner drivers and their supervisors to experience a series of practical and powerful demonstrations whilst gaining logbook hours on a planned route.

The event includes: planning routes through a variety of driving conditions; roadside random breath-testing and drug testing information from police; driver reviver tips, reverse parking tuition, road safety and more.
