Festivities kicked off with a McDonald’s children’s concert at 5.30pm and culminated with a dazzling fireworks display at 8.30pm.
There were fabulous performances from the the Illawarra Junior Vocal Ensemble and Wollongong’s String Family among others.
There are still plenty of options across the region for those keen for carols in the lead-up to the big day.

- Carols by the Harbour at Little Park, Shellharbour Village from 5pm.
Sunday, December 16
- Carols on the Lawn at St Michael’s Cathedral Wollongong from 5.30pm.
- Keiraview Uniting Church Carols at Wollongong West Public School from 5pm.
- Austinmer Village Carols by the Sea at Austinmer Beach Park from 7.30pm.
- Carols in the Carpark at Port Kembla Baptist Church from 6pm.
- Wollongong Welsh Choir Christmas Concert at Undanderra Community Hall from 2pm to 4pm.

- Christmas Eve Carols at St Michael’s Cathedral.
