After losing their first two matches, the Lions have found some form in recent weeks, with victories over Port Kembla and Uni.
Saturday’s 76-run win over Uni was particularly impressive, given University entered the match undefeated.
“It was a good win for us,” captain Kyle Connor said. “Winning the toss helped, and our top order did a good job to put us in the box seat and put the pressure on Uni.
“Our attitude’s changed a little bit in the last couple of weeks, we’re playing for each other more. We started slow at the beginning of the year, and it was hard with the weather. Now we have a bit of momentum going into next week’s game against Northern Districts.”
The victory was fuelled by opener Jeremy Tosswill, who’s 95 led Keira to a first-innings total of 299. Nick Bell then helped ensure Uni was never in the run chase, claiming 3-16 in a 10-over spell with the new ball.
Connor was pleased with the way both batsmen and bowlers performed in a complete performance.
“We closed it out well. Nick Bell was really strong and our ground fielding backed up our bowlers. It was a good result to get a win over a Uni side that hadn’t been defeated.”
In other matches, a Richard Marsh century wasn’t enough to lift Dapto over Corrimal, with the Cougars claiming a five-run victory.
Wests defeated Wollongong by 27 runs, Port Kembla upset Helensburgh and Balgownie beat Northern Districts.
