And it was the state’s drought-stricken farmers who benefited most, much to the pleasure of teacher Michael de Main.
Year 11 and 12 Woonona HS students thought better of holding a muck-up day and choose instead to do something positive for the community.
“The good thing is they did something good for their community but also had fun in the process,” Mr de Main said.
“We’ve raised just over $3000 for our farmers from our Fun Run and Colour Run fundraiser.
“Here on the coast we’re surrounded by water but we realise that our farmers are doing it tough at the moment.
“The kids wanted to help out. It really was a great day.”
Mr de Main added that while the senior students arranged most of the activities, pretty much all students took part in the day.
“I’d say about 250 kids took part,” he said.
