“At our stall we will have representatives from all our services available to provide information and support to the local community,” project officer Kate Turnbull of Early Learning said.
“We will also be providing craft activities for children, as well as a family rest area with games and activities and a shady, quiet space for parents to rest their feet and watch their children play.
“We have some fun giveaways and maybe some sweet treats too!”
One of the key drivers for Uniting services is to enliven communities which they aim to do through providing the highest quality Early Learning, Aged Care, Disability support and a range of other community services.
“Uniting is opening a brand new Outside School Hours care service for primary aged children in Corrimal in term 4, 2018 and we thought it would be a great opportunity to bring together all our services who are currently supporting the local community and celebrate together,” Kate said.
“Uniting Outside School Hours Care Corrimal will also be the first to offer the new Connect, Promote and Protect Program (CP3).
“At its heart, it’s a positive mental health program with a focus on community connection.
“CP3 is a program which connects children with specialist volunteers, peers and the community through creative and productive play, preparing primary schoolers for adolescence by developing individual capabilities, screening for mental health risks, and strengthening the bonds between family, school and community.
“The CP3 program has been developed in connection with the University of Sydney Brain and Mind Centre and Corrimal Uniting Church.
All of Uniting’s services in the region often talk about the welcoming nature of all the residents and locals they meet, particularly since launching the new OSHC service in Corrimal.
“We have been privileged to meet so many amazing community members who are so proud of Corrimal and the surrounding area,” Kate added.
“It has made us even more excited to open the service. We can’t wait to contribute to the community and hopefully meet a lot more lovely locals on the day.”
