But students and staff alike were “ecstatic” to hear more than half of the $7630.20 they donated for the Vinnies Winter Appeal, would be used to help NSW’s struggling farmers.
School principal Kathy Uroda said the school community supported Vinnies decision to use $4000 of the donation for its drought relief appeal.
“We are very happy,” she said.
“We were very proud of our school community for raising so much money for such a worthy organisation as Vinnies.
“To hear that we are also helping out our farmers is absolutely brilliant.”
The school raised the majority of the money from its Walk for Vinnies event.
But Ms Uroda is still “pinching” herself at how much money the school raised. “We are one of the smallest schools in the Diocese [Wollongong], with less than 200 students. Raising over $7500 is unbelievable.”
