The former Japanese international, who now calls Wollongong home, is hoping to have reason to smile again on Thursday night when Australia battle Denmark.
Having lost their first game to France, Tashiro expects the Socceroos to bounce back and beat the Danes.
“I’d love a Japan v Australia final, but I think the winner will be Brazil,” he said.
Regardless, the Wolves’ star expects to join round-ball fans at the The Fraternity Club to watch all the World Cup action.
The Illawarra’s ‘home of football’ is serving up its own football fever through pizza, pasta and picture-perfect television screens.
The enormity of the World Cup will also see the club serve an extra 2500 pizzas, 2000 bowls of pasta and an estimated 4000 coffees.
The Fraternity’s general manager Greg Field said the club would be open 24 hours throughout the big event and would broadcast all 64 matches live.
“We’re expecting a packed house each night, adding to the colour and spectacle of the World Cup,” he said.
