Kiama couple Ian and Carole Johnston, of JAi Events, left the Illawarra on the weekend to head back to Canada.

After many years running their events business in the region the husband and wife team are relocating back to North America where they met.
“It has been an amazing journey operating our business out of the Illawarra for the past 15 years,” Mrs Johnston said.
“We’ve had the privilege of meeting amazing people, creating award winning events and building significant relationships with so many across the region and country.”
The Johnston’s said goodbye to Kiama on Sunday to set up home in West Vancouver, Canada.
During their time running JAi Events from Kiama the couple succesfully promoted the Shoalhaven Coast Winter Wine Festival for many years from inception to a major event attracting around 10,000 people, many from outside the region.

They were actively involved in Rotary in Kiama and also helped the Rotary clubs of the Illawarra establish the Pride of the Illawarra Emergency Services Community Awards.
The regional event went on to become the statewide Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community Awards.

The annual Kiama Regional Wine Show run in conjunction with the Kiama Show Society at The Pavilion was another major event they organised for many years.
