We’ve widened the shared pathway, added seating and viewing points as well as improved the ramps to the Continental and Gentlemen’s Pools.

The project has been a long time in the making when you take into consideration the planning and design phases, and I’d like to thank everyone for their ongoing enthusiasm and patience.

I am sure you will agree the end result has been worth it, with plenty of room for walkers, runners, cyclists and families to enjoy this space together.

I encourage you to get down to the Blue Mile Tramway and make the most of this fantastic community asset. 

Wollongong City Council, the University of Wollongong and Transport for NSW are currently working together on a way to retain the free Gong Shuttle.

As you may know, both the council and university have offered to contribute $350,000 per year for three years to allow the Shuttle to continue as a free service.

The discussions with Transport for NSW are progressing positively and all parties believe it is likely that a solution will be found before June 30 that will minimise the impact of any service changes on the community.

We are hopeful of an agreement, however the Shuttle is a NSW Government service and ultimately they will determine its future.

I will keep you updated on this important issue for our community.

I am really looking forward to seeing Lower Crown Street Mall illuminated by some enormous rabbits from June 21 to 23.

Intrude is an installation from international artist Amanda Parer and is part of the Nights on Crown winter festivities which will also feature free live music and performances over the three nights from 5pm to 10pm.
