Three years later Chuckles For Charity is set to surpass that goal, with the help of Wollongong viral comedy star Ben “Frenchy” French who will headline the show at the University of Wollongong on June 29.
“It’s the first time we’ve had a really big name in the lineup,” said Maloney (who has cerebral palsy).
Maloney will MC the evening. Other comedians involved include Jamal Abdul, Lachlan Brooks, Rob Andrews, Marty Bright, Madeline Stewart and Jeff Peterson.
Although the fundraising milestone is set to be achieved, Maloney wants to grow the comedy night and continue to run it until he “can’t do it no more”.
“Even turn it into an Australia-wide thing, like take it on tour and eventually raise money for other charities all around Australia,” he said. “I’ve got big dreams.”
Money raised will go directly towards the construction of KidzWish Place in Flinders.
Chuckles For Charity, Jun 29 7pm, University Hall at UOW. Tickets $30. Tickets via www.trybooking.com
