Johanna Wichman, of Albion Park, Anna Murphy, Blake Ford and Erin Costello, all of Wollongong, Jordan Santomaggio, of Lake Heights, Adele Webb, of Goulburn, and Braidon Clissold, of Campbelltown, all started there training on Tuesday.
Ms Costello, 19, worked in retail for a year after her HSC in 2016 and saw IMB Bank as a chance to gain more skills and remain working in the region she grew up in and loves.
“I saw this as an opportunity to get a qualification and grow my career. I am doing a traineeship in the project management office and will get a Certificate III in Business,” she said.
Chief executive Robert Ryan said since IMB introduced traineeships in 2005 it has taken on 120 recruits interested in a financial services sector career. 93 per cent have gone on to work in permanent roles and 20 have been nominated for Regional Trainee of the Year awards.
There have made it to the finals of the NSW Trainee of the Year Award.
Mr Ryan welcomed all the new recruits at the IMB Bank Call Centre on Wednesday and told them about the opportunities for a career in the banking sector. He also introduced them to Jodi Crewdson, one of the original trainees from the 2005 intake, who is now the manager of the call centre and digital centre.
“We are totally committed to training young people in this industry and delighted that, of the 120 trainees who have gone through our 12-month program, most of them are still working with us today,” he said.
“I am also particularly proud of the fact the 75 per cent of the trainees are participants in our Future Leaders Program.
“IMB Bank has invested millions of dollars in our digital platforms and we want and need input from our younger staff members, who live much of their lives online, as we continue to improve how we communicate with our customers,” Mr Ryan said.
