Determined and hungry, the Foxes opened their account with a memorable 1-0 victory over Tarrawanna Blueys at Ray Robinson Field.
Standout Mitch Turner guided the ball home at the far post with 21 minutes remaining to propel the Foxes to a deserved victory.
Foxes coach Bruce Tilt was rapt with the performance and warned clubs not to underestimate his troops.
“People wrote us off right from the start and we are happy to do that,” Tilt said.
“With the young kids, people asked me who was going to score goals. It is only 1-0. It is one goal. It’s not enough. It’s only one game.
“I have always said that every game is a tough game for us. We are considered to be the lowest team in the league so everybody is above us. We will continue to think that way and we will come out with performances like that every week.”
