The Lakers have appeared unbeatable for a number of weeks, however Saturday’s result proves this competition is not a one-horse race.
Gerringong were bowled out for 100 before the match suddenly took a turn, with a Lachlan Hall double hat-trick reducing the Lakers to 7/39. Lakers wicket keeper Ryan Maguire dug in for his side, ultimately making his way to a hard-earned 65 and helping his team limp to first-innings points. Lake Illawarra were all out for 118.
A Mitchell Phelps century led Shellharbour (7/253) to first innings points and a comfortable 101-run lead against Oak Flats. Beau Chamberlain claimed figures of 4/59 with the Rats bowled out for 153.
The Rail became the third team of the day to claim first-innings points, with Dylan Rae (91*) leading the side to 5/157 at stumps. They bowled Kookas out for 103.
