While the wind did cause the four inflatable slides to be deflated for a while many families enjoyed the opportunity to get out by Lake Illawarra and soak up the free sliding fun from 10am to 2pm.
While the slides were out of action those at Reddall Reserve were able to remain active with other sporting demonstrations and come and try activities such as Stand-up Paddle-boarding.
Among those who welcomed Shellharbour City Council providing such an opportunity over the summer break were Toby Napper and his daughters Dulcie, 4, and Violet, 2.
Mr Napper brought them down for the free water slides but just as he arrived they started pulling them down because of the wind. But that didn’t deter them at all.
“They were a little disappointed at first when they saw the slides being packed up but then Dulcie and Violet have really engaged in the dancing activities which were really good. They are having a great time,” Mr Napper said.
“It is really great there are free activities like this to do in Shellharbour during the summer holiday period. This is something different I can do with the kids. I think this is a great initiative.”
