You will have the chance to meet Illawarra Hawks stars AJ Ogilvy, Kevin White and Mitch Norton from 4pm to 6pm at the Illawarra Basketball Stadium in Gwynneville.
This tournament is being funded through a Rotary District Grant specifically for the youth in our local area based on the very successful model that has been conducted previously.
PCYC are seeking players to form mixed teams aged 11 to 14 years to take part in a six-week social tournament starting January 13 and running each Saturday night until February 17.
Twilight tournaments are for everyone regardless of their skills or experience.
It is an opportunity for young people who perhaps don’t play organised sport or want to try their hand at something to get involved – then it’s basketball for fun! But the tournament is about more than just the sport.
A typical night will include a meal being served on arrival organised and served by the Rotarians, a personal development workshop and chances to socialise with other young people, whilst having fun, making new friends in a safe and welcoming environment.
The program is supported by PCYC police, staff and volunteers as well as members of Rotary. The venue is safe and secure with tournaments about having fun, learning new things and getting active in life.
The tournaments are real, are open to young people aged 11 to 14 years and winners receive trophies and certificates on the last night.
PCYC is also seeking people aged from 15 years to adults who would like to be involved as volunteers, as coaches and managers for teams.
This is real opportunity for young people of high school age who are keen to commit to being involved in their community, to engage with others who as volunteers, learn the skills and gain the experience from taking part.
Adults who have some time to commit, we are keen to involve you to assist in expanding our capacity to support young people in the various programs currently being conducted in their local PCYC’s.
