Synonymous for being the “race that stops a nation” it’s also known for office sweeps, fancy dress, long lunches with champagne and photos of racing revellers.

It may be a public holiday for Victorians but many in the Illawarra follow suit and take a break from the daily grind to dress in pretty frocks and dapper suits, fascinating headpieces and loud, bright colours.
