With the Titans coach reportedly on the verge of having his contract terminated by the club because of ongoing tension with fullback Jarryd Hayne, Peats has leapt to the defence of his coach declaring it would be unfair for Henry to be sacked.

Peats, who has now played at three different NRL clubs, believes it would be hard to find a team where everyone gets along with the coach. The Titans' No.9 said character clashes are part and parcel of the game, which is why he believes Henry shouldn't be shown the door.

"I think it would be, definitely," Peats said when asked if it would be unfair to see Henry sacked. "We all respect him as coach and the leadership group love him, the squad love him. There might be two or three blokes who aren't happy with their contract situation or where they are going next year but that happens in every squad.

"I guarantee you sit down with all 16 sides and ask the whole playing group if you like the coach, there are going to be one or two who doesn't. That's footy sometimes."

Peats often takes to social media to give his opinions, whether they are politically correct or not, speaking his mind without care for the ramifications.

During the week he tweeted "what a load of shit" in response to a report that suggested Ash Taylor and Kane Elgey would leave the club if Henry wasn't axed.

"Don't believe everything you read these days," Peats said. "Media want to put the first story out, not the truth. Ash is a good young kid and Elgey is probably one of the quietest kids I have ever met. For them to come out and say they're not going to sign unless the coach (leaves), is rubbish. I probably should keep my mouth shut on Twitter sometimes. I don't bullshit and I am who I am. People either like it or hate it. I am honest on there.

"I am sick of hearing about it. Like I said sometimes I should keep my mouth shut but I am sick of it. I feel for the coach, hey. He is not on the field having hit-ups, missing tackles and giving away fifth-tackle penalties. He is up in the box and he is giving us our game plan. We're not executing and not doing the right stuff. We're making it too hard for ourselves. So he is not the one to blame.

Peats, who has played with Hayne at the Eels, Titans and at Origin for NSW this year, didn't want to delve into the situation between the coach and his teammate. But he knows the performances of the side haven't helped the situation.

"I am not going to go into it too much. It is between them and the club," Peats said. "The boys get along really well up there and we're obviously battling at the moment. We have had a lot of injuries this year. We're trying hard but it is just not happening at the moment. We're professionals and we have to turn up and play every week.

"We know what we're capable of as a squad - we beat the Sharks twice, we beat the Storm, we beat Parra before. We beat some quality sides this year. We just haven't had the cattle on the field all year. Four or five weeks ago we were battling to make the eight, we were a deadset chance. To dish up what we have the last few weeks is disappointing."

Peats is one of several players who have expressed their support for the coach to the club, adamant he is the right man to lead the club into what 12 months ago seemed like a bright future.

"Everyone has reinforced their support for Neil," Peats said. "It is not his fault we are playing the way we have. We have just been disappointing the last few weeks."
