The song written by one of Wollongong’s favourite sons Graham Wilson, is sure to feature in October when 400 choristers from male choirs around Australia and New Zealand drop by Wollongong for the three-day festival.
A spectacular concert called ‘Let All Men Sing’ will highlight the extravaganza at WEC on October 15.
That’s exactly what will happen, with the 14 choirs all singing together.
And, for the first time the Male Choir Association Australia (MCCA) run-concert will be conducted by dual music directors.
In a further twist, Keiren Brandt-Sawdy (Sydney Male Choir) and Tom Buchanan (Australian Welsh Male Choir) are combined the youngest conductors in the event’s history.
‘’But they are nevertheless very accomplished and experienced musicians,’’ MCCA vice-president Bruce Sharpham said.
‘’We see this as a tremendous opportunity to demonstrate how music can bridge across the generations and provide the enjoyment for our audiences.’’
He thanked Arcadians member and local organising committee chair David Bryars, for the ‘’tremendous work’’ done organising the festival.
‘’Serious consideration is being given to making Wollongong home for future concerts,’’ he said.
The NSW Police Concert Band and well-known Illawarra artists, The String Family will also feature in the three-day festival in Wollongong running October 13-15.
Tickets at ticketmaster.com.au or 136 100. They can also be purchased weekdays (9am-5pm) from the WEC Box Office.
