Blue Stars welcomes athletes from all clubs so that the meet can give all athletes some added competition.
With School meets coming up, it is vital that athletes have match competition outside of training and there is no better way to do this than the winter meets.
An added bonus for this second series will be the use of electronic timing, with IBS Working in conjunction with Wollongong City Little A’s.
An Australian record could also be on the agenda with masters athlete Richard Hughes attempting his age bracket mark for the 60m.
Events to be conducted will also include an invitational 100m, to allow Richard to also see if he can break this record also.
The program will commence at 10.30am, while the first event to be held will be the all ages 800m at 10.45am.
It will be followed by all ages 60m at 11.15am, the walks for all ages at 11.30.m, with the the 200m scheduled for 12 noon.
This will then be followed by the invitation 100m at 12.30pm, and if time permits relays.
Field events for all ages will be conducted in both the high jump and discus.
The Winter Series program is set for three rounds with the August meet scheduled for the 4th Sunday of the month and the last of the three round series, prior to commencing the summer program in September/October.
Little A’s memberships will commence on the 1st August, and duel registrations will also take place . Little A’s members have the right to choose their own senior club, and IBS is encouraging members to join with us so that the transition to ANSW ranks is made so much easier.
In a friendly relaxed atmosphere at club meets, the club also encourages athletes to take part in ANSW events such as country and possibly state titles if they choose but at the same time, IBS will ensure all Little A’s duel registered members will have access to all major events, and will be supported and encouraged to take part.
The club will also be encouraging interested persons to take part in coaching programs and also officials exams so that they are fully aware of the IAAF rules that govern senior athletics.
For more information on duel membership with IBS interested people can phone either the President Geoff Hynoski on 0437 036 013 or the secretary Valmai Loomes on 0409 307 325.
Officials of the club are intending to move around the Little A’s centre to ensure all members are fully aware of the Duel Registration system.
Our cross country members are still flying the flag proudly as they battled in out in the recently held XCC Street Relays held at the University Of Newcastle. We welcome newcomer Nash Buzar to the team and giving a lot away in age against senior men, it enabled the club to have a team in this competition.
Geoff Hynoski ran a good leg in 15 minutes 57 seconds, followed by Nash in 16 min 20 secs and Corey Hogg running a solid 17 mins 33 secs, and Jessica Hogg completing the team with a time of 18 min 24 seconds.
From what we have heard, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event and also the atmosphere of the day.
