Three Shellharbour Junior Football Club teams will be in action at Myimbarr trying to progress to the final of the annual State Cup junior tournament.
They are part of 10 Football South Coast junior outfits who have progressed to the last four of the state-wide tournament. Semi-finals are also played in three other venues.
The action kicks off at 9am on Sunday when Shellharbour U12 boys play Woonona Junior FC for a spot in the grand final of the Frank Broughton Cup.
Shellharbour’s U13 boys will then play Connells Point Rovers FC at 10.15am, with Shellharbour White U16 girls battling Leichhardt Saints FC at 11.30am.
Shellharbour, who hosted two rounds of this year’s State Cup, has enjoyed a fair amount of success in this competition over the years.
The club won titles with its boys under 13’s in 2011 and 2015, the girls under 14’s in 2013 and girls under 16’s in 2014.
Sunday marks the start of a very busy period for Shellharbour Junior Football Club (SJFC).
Straight after the State Cup semi-finals, five Shellharbour teams will head to Canberra on Sunday afternoon to compete at the Kanga Cup.
In 2016 three of the seven Shellharbour teams participating reached the grand finals in the largest international youth football tournament in the Southern Hemisphere.
Over 375 teams representing 5500 players from Australia and overseas took part in the Kanga Cup last year.
This year five SJFC teams, U9’s, U12’s, U13’s, U13 girls and U16 girls, will take on teams from South Korea, New Zealand, Brisbane and other regional areas and states around Australia during the week-long competition.
This is a great event where teams have fun, enjoy football and experience an event with international competitors.

‘’Most days one to two games are played from Monday through to the Thursday before the finals are held on the Friday.
