St Joseph’s Catholic High School has recently undergone some exciting changes. Building upon the foundations of St Joseph’s proud history, they are moving to the future.
The school welcomes Mark Baker as acting principal for 2017. Mark has 17 years’ experience as a Catholic school principal within the Wollongong and Sydney Dioceses.
Previously principal at Holy Spirit College, Bellambi and St Paul’s Catholic College in Manly, recently he has been working as a project officer for the Diocese of Broken Bay in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Mark brings his vast knowledge and experience to St Joseph’s for the remainder of 2017.
In 2018, St Joseph’s will welcome Amanda Wilson as the new principal. Amanda is currently principal of Holy Spirit College, Bellambi and is highly experienced in education and possesses a thorough understanding of the contemporary needs of students.

Mark and Amanda have successfully worked together as a team at Holy Spirit College and will work together again to improve educational outcomes and facilities within the St Joseph’s community.
They plan to build on the strong foundations of St Joseph’s and the many academic, sporting and cultural achievements that have made St Joseph’s a leading school.
Work has commenced on refurbishing key areas of the school and future plans are in development to create and improve TAS facilities, with new kitchens and woodwork rooms.
Outdoor learning areas have been improved to make the school engaging for students.
The school, which was built in the 1980s, is being updated with a more contemporary look to improve the physical appearance. The gardens have been remodelled and, in many cases, replanted and rejuvenated.
The exterior of the school is about to be repainted and classrooms will gradually be provided with new, modern furniture. These renovations should provide a positive learning atmosphere where students can realise their potential.
Respect, responsibility and results are the core values that Mark and Amanda will continue to foster in St Joseph’s students as they guide them to achieve their best; both in the classroom and the community.
“The school is not academically selective but we do select on the basis of a student’s and family’s desire to be part of our Christian Catholic community,” the spokesperson said.
“We look for students who want to try their best and do their best. The changes here at St Joseph’s are all aimed at helping students achieve this.”
