Coggan picked up the gong for Male Artist of the Year for a second consecutive year. This time for his song ‘Scotland’, taken from his recently released album The Wide Horizon.
The travelling musical family, the Moirs, won Song of the Year for an original work “The Journey” – written by the matriarch of the family. Though there were finalists in six categories.
Sarah Moir, her husband Joel, plus teenage children Heath and Ashleigh have been on the road with their violins and cellos for 15 months.
The Moir’s decided to travel around Australia in a caravan, busking and playing everything from large festivals to intimate solo gigs.
“Heath and Ashleigh have become fantastic at talking to new people of all ages. I can see that this trip is moulding them into very confident, friendly and sociable people,” Mrs Moir said.
The family will return briefly to Wollongong in October as a guest artists of the Male Choir’s Association of Australia Concert at WIN Entertainment Centre.
