The tour has already seen Wilson play to packed houses throughout 2016, and was an extension of the sold-out run of The First of the Final Farewell Tours...Perhaps that featured him touring consistently in 2013 and 2014.
I see everyone doing their final concerts, so I thought I would jump on the bandwagon.
- Kevin Bloody Wilson
He will again be joined by special guest, Jenny Talia from Australia.
Don’t fear that this is the end for Wilson, though – chances are after this run of dates that there could be a third, fourth and fifth farewell tour.
After all, if you’re going to go out with a bang, then you have to do it right (and practice makes perfect).
When Wilson announced his first batch of final farewells, the musician was quick to point out that he was quite keen on setting a record.
“I see everyone doing their final concerts, so I thought I would jump on the bandwagon,” he said.
“I’ll probably get three or four years out of this and then I’ll start doing my comebacks.”
As for the concerts themselves, Wilson said audiences can typically expect anything to happen.
“There will be lots of full frontal nudity from me,” he joked.
“The show revolves on its own axis, I never know night from night what is going in the show.
“A lot of ad-lib goes on. It depends what is happening in the world between now and then.”
Wilson originally recorded songs on a cassette tape for his mates, penned about his experiences working in the mines in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.
In the early 1980s, he put together a tape called Your Average Australian Yobbo and started selling it – sales went into the tens of thousands before it was transferred to LP (where it sold even more). His total record sales are now nudging the four million mark.
Kevin Bloody Wilson will perform at Anita’s Theatre, Thirroul on Thursday, May 11; and Friday, May 12 at Wests Illawarra.
