The constant rain did not damper the enthusiasm of those who attended and took part in a series of rich and culturally diverse events.
Shellharbour TAFE has a proud history of honouring the cultural diversity and belonging of students and staff.
The 2017 Harmony Day event marked the sixteenth year the campus has celebrated the day.
Harmony Day coordinator Angela Ljubic said the ‘everyone belongs’ theme provided an opportunity to build understandings and mutual respect amongst students, staff and community members.
‘’For our students, Harmony Day highlights a sense of belonging and a feeling that they are part of something bigger,’’ she said.
‘’There’s always a buzz in the air - the students are really happy to engage with people from other cultures and share their talents.’’
Interactive stalls included a welcome in other languages, name writing in different languages, hand massages and a Harmony Day tree.
People from a number of cultures also shared their dance traditions, while the day also featured Zumba by Amanda Speelman.
The Harmony Day celebration is a partnership between several faculties of TAFE NSW, ITSA and Illawarra Multicultural Services.
Wollongong TAFE will hold a Harmony Day celebration on Thursday, March 23.
