But students at Albion Park Public School have been taking a stand against bullying together all week.
School chaplain Tara Kent has run a number of activities with students to empower young people to take a stand against bullying and violence.
‘’The message we want our young people to hear loud and clear is bullying and violence in and out of the home is not OK,’’ Mrs Kent said.
She said raising awareness and educating students and parents so they can be proactive in ‘’taking a stand’’ is key.
That’s why this week students have been involved in creating artworks, group discussions, lessons and assembly presentations focusing on empowering young people to take a stand against bullying and violence.

‘’Raising awareness and simply starting the conversation in our communities is a powerful weapon,’’ Mrs Kent said.
‘’Young people need to feel heard, supported, understood and empowered to make a difference - to be a positive force for good in their homes, their school, with their friends, online and in our community.’’
Knowing what is acceptable, knowing what to do, where to go for help, how to be part of the solution and promoting positive life messages such as 'treating others the way you want to be treated’, are some of the topics Albion Park Public School students have explored.
‘’It’s been fantastic seeing the engagement of the students with such an important topic,’’ Mrs Kent said.
‘’Opportunities for conversations, learning and re-learning, reflecting on their experiences and behaviour and witnessing students make personal pledges to "take a stand together" has been very powerful.
‘’I'm privileged to work alongside these young people and support them to make a positive difference in their world.’’
The seventh annual National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence is officially marked on Friday, March 17.
The day allows the whole school community to 'take a stand together' against bullying and violence.
