The program is delivering almost $50,000 to community groups across the Dapto and Bathurst regions.
Lakeside were awarded $5000 to upgrade their field lighting to ensure it meets Australian standards.
The club’s fundraiser/sponsor coordinator David Higgins, thanked TransGrid for the grant and its support to deliver the football club’s important initiative.
‘’As we are a small but progressive company, this money will go a long way to achieving the field lighting that we desperately require,’’ Mr Higgins said.
‘’It’s wonderful to see such organisations as TransGrid helping with community projects.’’
Dapto Community Farm, which provides a space for community members to grow their own vegetables, received $4580 to buy a new water pump and save the farm from closure.
Committee member Gill Brydon said the old water pump was severely damaged in floods late last year and without a replacement the days of the community farm would be numbered.
“Without water we can’t grow vegetables, it’s as basic as that. We need water to carry on with the farm,” Ms Brydon said.
‘’Especially coming into this time of year when it gets much hotter – the need to have access to water is even greater.’’
Historic Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) ($5363), Albion Park Crows Junior Football Club ($2000), Dapto Rural Fire Brigade ($5280) and Albion Park Oak Flats Senior Football Side ($5000) also received support.
TransGrid also delivered funding to Family Service Illawarra’s Leaving Violence ($4400) and its Park and Play ($4000) programs.
TransGrid senior community engagement specialist Sarah Hafez said the Community Partnerships Program focuses on giving back to communities by supporting local initiatives which improve health, education, safety or the environment.
