Greathead stepped up and converted from 12-yards a minute before half time after Chad Keating was pushed in the back as he went to head towards goal.
In a hard fought encounter, the goal was enough for the Wanderers to reach the summit of the District League once more.
Warilla have made five grand finals since 2011 and Saturday’s win was their first since 2013.
“There is nothing like winning them,” Wanderers coach Barney King said.
“We had a good year. We finished in the semi finals of the Bert Bampton Cup, second only to Corrimal in the league and won the grand final. Wehad all three grades in the semi series as well.
“The club is in good hands at the moment.”
Warilla had to withstand an early onslaught from the Foxes, who qualified for the decider by knocking out champions Corrimal last weekend. They had the better of the early running but didn’t capitalise on a mountain of possession.
It eventually cost them as Warilla went into the sheds a goal to the good thanks to Greathead.
“We hung in there after they started off like a house on fire and it took us 15 or 20 minutes to settle into our play,” King said.
“They created some chances and we did too.”
In reserve grade, Thirroul Thunder beat Fernhill 4-2 while the Foxes won youth grade 2-1 over Wests Illawarra.
