This year the markets will be managed by Corrimal Rotary Club under a licence from Wollongong City Council. As in previous years, the markets will be held at Flagstaff Hill on the first Friday of each month from October to March. Stalls will be trading from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
The dates to note are Fridays – October 7, November 4, December 2, January 6, February 3 and March 3. For a great way to end the week, you can bring a picnic blanket, your family and friends and savour some of the offerings from a variety of international food stalls. Relax and enjoy good food, good company, some light entertainment and the wonderful views from one of Wollongong’s iconic venues.
“We are very excited and proud to be organising the Twilight Markets” Corrimal Rotarian Kay said. “There will be many familiar stalls along with some exciting additions. Our aim is to have something that will appeal to everyone. ”
The first market on Friday, October 7 will feature Light the Night Wollongong. This is the Leukaemia Foundation’s annual fund-raising lantern walk and events like Wollongong’s will be held at many locations across Australia.
There will be entertainment to enjoy, and then as night falls, family and friends will walk together carrying lanterns of hope: gold lanterns to remember a loved one, white lanterns to reflect on an individual’s journey with blood cancer and blue lanterns to show support.
The money raised at Light the Night Wollongong will be used to give local families the emotional and practical support they need, and to fund research to help more Australians survive blood cancer and improve their quality of life.
Each of the following Twilight Markets will have a different theme, and will have some repeat stalls and some new ones. Anyone interested in being a stallholder at the following markets should email Tracy at preston_tracy@yahoo.com.au for an application form or information.
