That’s why club vice-president Michael Eggers was so happy when Keira MP Ryan Park came to the party and secured $12,000 for a new clubhouse roof and football coach development.
“Ryan Park has been a big help. The funds are much needed to improve our facilities at Harry Graham Park. Part of the funds will also be spent on developing our coaches,’’ Mr Eggers said.
Figtree was one of seven local sporting clubs from across the Keira electorate awarded a funding boost under the Local Sport Grant Program.
Mr Park said about $50,000 has been granted to clubs that rely on the hard work and dedication of volunteers to keep operating. ‘’The volunteers who support these clubs do an outstanding job, whether it's coaching our kids, helping out on the committee or lending a hand in the canteen or setting up the necessary equipment to enable participants to enjoy their sport,’’ he said.
