The two organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), to help them shape service delivery for older people in community housing around the Illawarra.
The Housing Trust CEO Joan Ferguson said the new partnership will greatly benefit current and future tenants who require additional support in their day-to-day lives.
“Our aim is to create more sustainable and supportive outcomes for the older population who access our service, and this forms part of our greater Housing Trust Older People’s Housing Strategy,’’ Ms Ferguson said.
“This partnership has been built on a framework of collaboration which has seen Warrigal generously offering their services for tenants who will be moving into our new Central Gardens development in Shellharbour.’’
She said the Illawarra’s largest community housing provider will work closely with Warrigal to assist older tenants to receive the support services and lifestyle opportunities they require, such as transport and community care packages.
Warrigal CEO Mark Sewell said the organisation was committed to partnering with like minded organisations and understood that older people and their families need access to better, more transparent information to assist them as they make fundamental choices about their care.
“Warrigal will work with the Housing Trust to assist their older tenants in providing resources and services so that they can take greater control of their lives and have confidence in the quality of aged care services that they receive,’’ Mr Sewell said.
