That’s why Mrs Niedermeyer and some willing helpers are holding a gathering on January 26 to mark the centenary of Port Kembla Primary School 1916-2016.
“This building was much loved and had great sentimental value for us,’’ she said.
“The idea of a celebration came about through the Facebook page Port Kembla Before and Beyond 2014, created by Peter Douglas and his craving for information and memories from past students’’
Mrs Niedermeyer said the Australia Day gathering at St Stephen’s Church Hall in Port Kembla will include memorabilia, display of past class photographs and the opening of a time capsule.
